Dear All,
Green Club of Thoughts (GCT) is the first inter/trans-disciplinary club established at Kathmandu University founded in 2007. The club aims to raise awareness on major educational, technical, social, and economic national issues as well as international issues engaging students of all seven schools in various activities. Since then, to effectuate the objectives of the club it has been working in a wide range of activities from interaction program on national issues to outreach activities in different corners of the country, and has conducted different inter/national workshops and schools collaborating with different community organizations.
According to WHO, 800,000 people die every year due to suicide. Analyzing the data, we can find that in 1 people dies in every 4 seconds. Talking about Nepal, on an average of 16 people die every day due to suicide. According to National Suicidal Statistics, Ilam district has higher suicidal rate. So, Green Club of Thoughts in collaboration with Kathmandu University-Counselling Cell, Rong
Rural Municipality-Ilam, Nepal Red Cross Society-Ilam, and Kathmandu University–Community Engagement Department has initiated a suicide Prevention program in Rong Municipality of Ilam District.
This execution of the project has been carried out to be completed in 3 phases and the project will be completed within 2 years.
The objectives of the project are:
1.To minimize the Suicidal rate of Rong Rural Municipality
2.To determine the suicidal rate and statistics related to psychosocial health of different wards of
Rong.
3.To provide training related to mental health, behavioral study to the health workers of Rong
Rong Rular Municipality, Ilam
